Frisky business

Leather, feathers, straps and studs are big this season! They are certainly the way to add a little adornment to an otherwise simple accessory!

This can be done from home too…simple visit your local bits and bobs store and pick up an assortment of embellishments! Attach them to an otherwise simple accessory and you have created a designer piece in minutes! And the best bit…it will be completely individual!

Try attaching a variety of studs to the likes of a quilted bag. The diagonal lines of the quilts will help you place the studs in place!

Other pieces in this season include the likes of super high heels, a lot of those seen marching down the catwalk were adorned with several ankle straps, lace and buckles!

Fierce looking clutches were also a must and appeared in patent! Metallics and box like clutches were very much in!

The cape

There are various fashions that feature in films and many fashionista’s will try to create a certain look that they have seen in a renowned movie.  Maybe it was something their idol wore or something created by a top designer name.

Fashion is all about expressing ourselves, this can be done through colour, style, attitude, eccentricity, and simply the way we wear our clothes.

The cape is one such item that is often associated with films and such an item shows us how film and fashion really come into play!

Thanks to the recent vampire obsession we all seem to be entertaining, the cape is high on our need-to-invest-in list this season!

The cape is most certainly the coolest cover-up for the winter months and comes in an assortment of styles, colours, and fabrics.

Think solder style and opt for the military look, checked for a more English appeal, fur lined for a winter must-have, and side buttoned for a more elegant feel!

And the summer style gongs go to…

This summer has certainly seen an array of trends, especially from the A-list!  But which styles get the gongs this year?  First up cut-off denim is a must and every fashionista should have at least one pair of trusty denim cut-offs in their wardrobes.  Think faded denim, lace embellishments and button detailing if you really wish to work this style to the max!

Team those denim cutoffs with a playful camisole, a long length delicate chain necklace, some hot shades and maybe even a trilby.  However keep the look  classy and don’t make the denim short enough to reveal a cheek or two!

A floral print tea dress is also another must-do style for the warmer months, however when winter does strike, simply add a cute cardigan and a pair of opaque tights to the mix!  For a summer wedding team the cutesy dress with a pair of prom-esqu heels and for a more daytime affair, look to a wedged espadrille for a more low-key and beachy look.

The tea-dress is certainly proving to be a big hit of our time and has once again emerged as a key trend for summer.  You will most certainly see this look at an array of festivals, functions and openings on many an occasion.

Choose a few different styles in statement prints and also block colours in order to update your current wardrobe for summer!  The best bit, such a dress will roll up easily into a weekend bag with out creasing, top points from us!

How to wear sequins without going over the top

How to wear sequins without going over the top

Sequins are often decoration associated with older ladies or with tacky cabaret outfits. However, they’ve made a come back and now can add class and style to any outfit. For ages I’ve wanted a sequin covered dress; however I’ve questioned whether this is going too far with my love for sequins. Also sequins can be quite painful if they’re rubbed against your skin so I was unsure whether I wanted to clear the dance floor because my dress injured people.

So I chose some more subtle ways to get sequins into my outfits, starting with sequin covered bangles; they catch the disco lights perfectly and make you sparkle. Some dresses and tops have very subtle patterns created by sequins and this can add glamour to your style. I think that with sequins it’s all about either making a statement even from one chunky, sequin covered bangle or a sequin dress. Some celebrities have sported sequin hot pants which make a big statement when worn with a plain top. You can also get sequin boob tubes to go under a transparent top; this is subtle but striking look.

With sequins you can get creative, so get your sewing kit out and personalise your outfits. If a top needs a bit more ‘oomph’ and sparkle, why not sew a row of sequins around the collar. If you don’t want to actually wear the sequins, why not get some sequin covered heels or a sequin covered clutch? These can make just as much of a statement as a sequin dress. No more scratches on the dance floor!

General Fashion Tips for Tall Women

General Fashion Tips for Tall Women

In the past, most tall women usually had to settle for jeans and pants since there were not a lot of clothing designers that made clothes for women who had a height of over 5 feet 8 inches; however, as the demand for dresses suited for tall women has increased, more and more designers started to offer stylish choices that are specifically designed for tall women. As a matter of fact, tall women now have a wide range of choices as far as style and fashion are concerned. Read on for some general fashion tips for tall women.

For choices of clothing, wearing clothes that have wide belts is a great choice as it divides the upper body from the lower body, shortening the torso area. You can also experiment by mixing both light and dark colors to create outfits that showcase your figure instead of emphasizing your height. Some of your best options would be straight skirts, slightly fitted blouses and clothes that have long lines. Some things that you need to avoid would be patterns and clothes which are cropped or too tight, as they have a tendency of adding even more length to your body.

If you are tall, it is also recommended to choose the right type of shoes. Flats or shoes which have minimal heels would be the best option, as they can downplay your height; however, you can still wear high heels, provided you have a monochromatic outfit such as an all-black ensemble.

Lastly, regardless of the outfit you are wearing, having the right amount of confidence would greatly help. Some tall women tend to be shy when presenting themselves in public, making them look awkward; however, if you carry a healthy amount of confidence, the people around you would look up to you not only because you are tall but also because they admire the way you carry yourself.
